Off the Painting Table (Dec 2015)

The fantasy painting bug has died for the time being. At the Warfare show I bought a box of Victrix early Napoleonic French infantry with the aim of painting some of these bicorne wearing figures as Spanish infantry for use in Sharp Practice games. I wanted my Spanish to wear the ‘old’ white uniform, with bicorne, rather than the later uniform types (just looks more ‘Spanish’ to me!). I thought I had a larger bicorne head in my plastic bits box, but I was mistaken and had to use those supplied.

I think the results are OK. I could have bought some true, accurate Spanish metal figures, but I think these plastics will do the job, especially because I don’t think the Spanish will make many starring appearances on the tabletop. When looking in my plastic spares box I did come across some plumed shako heads which I decided to use for a second unit of French voltigeurs.

Well, Christmas is nearly here and it is time to pack away my paints and get on with my social responsibilities. The next painting I will do will be in 2016! So, I have tabulated my painting totals for the year 2015 below:

  2. Using early French as early Spanish works for me.

Great painting productivity in 2015 for you. Well done!
